Cisdem Duplicate Finder for Mac
Clear duplicates to free up space for your new files.
I've tried Gemini and Duplicate File Finder before, and both made me nervous because the auto-select rules felt too aggressive — I was scared it would delete the wrong copy of something important. Cisdem's approach is way more transparent. It groups duplicates clearly, shows you both files side by side with full paths and file sizes, and you manually pick which to keep. The auto-select by oldest/most recent works well once you understand it, but I usually review manually anyway. Only thing I'd change: the scan on a really large drive (4TB+) can take a while, but that's just physics. All in all, this is the one I trust.

I'm a wedding photographer and my MacBook Pro has been running out of space constantly because I accidentally import the same Lightroom catalog to multiple folders. Cisdem found over 40,000 duplicate RAW files and JPEGs — turns out I had been backing up the same shoots to three different external drives and then copying them all back. The photo deduplication by content (not just filename) is the killer feature here. I can trust it to keep the highest-quality version and mark the rest. It took about 20 minutes to scan my entire 2TB drive and another 10 to review and delete. Got 80GB back instantly. If you work with large media files, this pays for itself the first time you run it.

Does the job finding duplicates. Just wish the initial scan didn't take so long on external drives. Otherwise solid.
