Cisdem VideoPaw for Mac
Convert, download, record, compress, enhance, edit video and rip DVD/Blu-ray.
I went through VideoSolo, Wondershare, Permute, HandBrake, and MacX before settling on Cisdem. What sold me was the download-and-convert workflow — I paste a YouTube URL, it downloads at 4K if available, and I can convert straight to ProRes for Final Cut. No intermediate steps, no switching between apps. The built-in editor is basic but surprisingly useful for quick trims and cropping before a conversion. Rendering speed on my M2 MacBook Pro is excellent — a 2-hour 4K file converts to 1080p in about 8 minutes. Really glad I stopped shopping around.

I edit short films as a hobby and constantly need to convert ProRes files to H.264 for sharing online. Cisdem does this faster than HandBrake and the output looks cleaner at the same bitrate — less banding in gradients and sharper text overlays. The batch processing is a big time saver too; I can dump a whole folder and let it run overnight. Only reason I'm not giving 5 stars is the UI could use a dark mode for late-night sessions, but functionally it's rock solid.

Works great for standard conversions. I'd love to see more device-specific presets though — had to tweak settings manually for my older Samsung TV.

I just needed to convert MKV files to MP4 for my Apple TV. This does it perfectly and fast. No complaints.

This app just saved me from losing my mind. I had 50+ videos to convert for a trip, and VideoPaw handled them all while I had my coffee. 10/10 would let it do my chores again.

I was surprised by how many formats Cisdem VideoPaw supports. It handled old AVI clips, MKV movies, and even HEVC videos without any issues. The media player inside the app is a nice bonus too.

I use this daily for work and personal videos. The interface is clean, the conversion is fast, and ripping DVDs or Blu-rays is straightforward. A few more advanced editing options would make it perfect, but overall, very satisfied.
