Cisdem Duplicate Finder for Windows FAQs

1. What is the difference between the free trial and registered version?

You can scan, preview, locate and hide duplicates both in trial version and registered version, but in trial version you cannot delete all the selected duplicates with one click.

2. What's the difference between duplicate images and simialr images?

If the images are considered as duplicate images, it means those images are identical, they have the same format, same size, same resolution and same content.

If the images are identical or similar in content, but different in size, resolution or format, they will be considered as similar images.

3. How to scan multiple folders at a time?

Click “+ Add Folders or Drives” from the “Scan Path” drop-down menu, then select the folder or drive you want to scan. To add multiple folders or drives, click “+ Add Folders or Drives” again and repeat the process.

4. I cannot preview the duplicate images that Cisdem scanned out, why?

Cisdem only supports previewing some certain image formats, including png, jpg, jpeg, bmp, tga, jp2, jpg2000, tif, tiff, webp, hdr, arw, bay, bur, ccr, crw, cr2, cr3, dcr, dng, drw, erf, fff, iiq, k25, kdc, mef, mrw, mos, nef, nrw, orf, pef, pff, prw, raf, ra, rwl, rw2, sr2, srf, srw, x3f, heic, heif, avif.

5. After deleting the duplicate files, the remaining storage space remains same as before, why?

You will need to go to the Recyble Bin and clear all the files there, then the space will be released.

6. I run the program, but the program's window does not display completely, what should I do?

It should be caused by the display settings, you can double-click the blank space at the top of the scan result window to auto adjust the window size, then the window will be displayed completely.

7. Why can't Cisdem Duplicate Finder detect the duplicate songs?

Maybe these songs are considered as duplicates by you, but technically they aren't duplicates. These songs may have the same name or looks like the same song, but there probably a difference in content, that's why Cisdem does not detect them.

8. Can Duplicate Finder for Windows detect duplicate folders?

Yes, Cisdem Duplicate Finder can detect duplicate images, videos, musics, documents, other files and folders.

9. How to change removal selection with the duplicates?

Click the set button at the right upper corner before scanning, select the Selection option, you can select duplicates removal rules and similar removal rules as your requirement.

10. I need to scan a large number of files, what can I do to make it scan faster?

You can go to the settings of Cisdem Duplicate Finder> Similar Image, uncheck the option Enable Similage Images Function, then try to scan again. If this option is unchecked, Cisdem will only detect duplicate files, not the similar images, and the scan speed will be much faster.

11. Can I undo the deletion?

No, once the deletion is completed, it cannot be undone.

12. Can I save the scan result?

Yes, the scan results are automatically saved and displayed as a list on the Home screen.

13. What is Smart Selection and how does it work?

Smart Selection analyzes similar photos based on both aesthetic quality and technical quality. It considers factors such as composition, overall visual appeal, sharpness, exposure, blur, and other visible image-quality issues.

Each photo receives a quality score from 0 to 10, helping you quickly compare similar photos and identify the best ones to keep.
