I have ever shared in many articles about how to “Recover” files on mac. There is no doubt that the easiest way for data recovery is to restore from iCloud backup. iCloud is Apple’s “cloud” service that is available and free to anyone using an iOS device or OS X.
However, what if you have accidentally deleted your backup in iCloud? You can of course get a data recovery application such as Cisdem DataRecovery for Mac, while is there any way for iCloud backup restore? Apple’s iCloud now allows you to undelete files you’ve deleted from iCloud Drive, restore recently deleted photos, and revert your contacts and calendars to a previous state. Here is guide on how to restore iCloud backup, including lost iCloud files, Contacts, or data from Calendar and Reminders.
1. A premise for the method is that only within 30 days after you delete the files from your iCloud Drive can the lost iCloud backup be restored.
2. You can only restore the files from a earlier version. That’s to say, if you have made some changes recently, you might lose some data.
When restoring files, you can choose the individual files you want to restore. The detailed steps are as follows.
Step 1. Sign in to iCloud.com.
Step 2. Click “Settings”.
Step 3. Scroll down to the bottom of the Settings page and click “Restore Files”.
Step 4. Select the files you need to restore and click on “Restore File”. The files will be immediately added back into iCloud Drive, ready to be worked on again.
You'll find many information of these deleted files as shown in the above screenshot, including the date of the file deletion, the day that the file will be permanently removed from iCloud, plus the file name and location of the file if you want to restore.
“WTF happened to my contacts?” is what many Apple devices users complain in the past. Now, Apple allows users to get deleted contacts back. It indeed make lots of sense. In order to restore the Contacts in your iCloud, follow my steps below.
Step 1. Sign in to iCloud.com.
Step 2. Click “Settings”.
Step 3. Scroll down and click “Restore Contacts” under Advanced.
Step 4. Click “Restore” next to the date before you deleted your contacts as shown in the above screenshot.
Step 5. Click “Restore” for the second time. After the restore completes, you'll get a notification on iCloud.com and an email to the address on file with your Apple ID.
In case that you lost all your Contacts one day, you’re highly-recommended to backup your Contacts timely with one more contacts backup app except for the iCloud.
iCloud features a great calendar system that not only works across all your iCloud devices, but you can also share calendars with other iCloud users. Reminders works in the same way as Calendar to ensure your to-do list is always up to date and you can share reminder lists in the same way. Similar to the restoring of Contacts, you can also recover the Calendars and Reminders according to the following steps.
Step 1. Open iCloud.com in your Safari and sign in.
Step 2. Click “Settings”.
Step 3. Choose“Restore Calendars and Reminders” under Advanced.
Step 4. Click “Restore” next to the date before you deleted your calendars and reminders.
Step 5. Confirm by clicking “Restore” again.
By the way, if you have any problems in backuping Mac to iCloud, you can refer to “Mac Backup in Three Ways” about how to backup Mac to iCloud and “How to Backup Your iOS Devices to iCloud or iTunes”for iOS devices backup.
