Cisdem PDF Converter OCR for Mac lets you convert PDF files into editable formats, OCR scanned PDFs and images, create PDFs from other file formats, and merge multiple files into a single PDF.

This guide walks you through the main features and shows you how to convert, OCR, create, and merge PDF files step by step.

 

Getting Started

Download & Install

1. You can download the installation package of Cisdem PDF Converter OCR from the below link.

Free Download

2. Install Cisdem PDF Converter OCR with the downloaded package.

Double-click the .dmg file.

Drag the Cisdem PDF Converter OCR icon to Applications folder.

Note: Move Cisdem PDF Converter OCR to the Applications folder before downloading the OCR module. This helps ensure that the OCR module can be installed correctly.

 

Activate Cisdem PDF Converter OCR

To unlock the full version, activate Cisdem PDF Converter OCR with your license code.

1. Launch Cisdem PDF Converter OCR.

2. Click the key icon in the upper-right corner of the main window.

3. Enter or paste your license code.

4. Click Activate.

Once activation is complete, you can use the full version of the software.

 

Convert PDF to Editable Formats

Cisdem PDF Converter OCR can convert PDF files into a variety of editable and reusable formats, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Pages, Keynote, Numbers, TXT, RTF, HTML, and more.

You can also convert multiple PDF files in batches and select specific pages when you don't need to convert the entire document.

Step 1 Add PDF Files

Open the Converter tab and add the PDF files you want to convert.

You can add files in any of the following ways:

  1. Drag and drop PDF files directly into the main window.
  2. Click  and select the PDF files.
  3. Choose File > Add Files... from the menu bar.

To remove an imported PDF:

  1. Select the file and click .
  2. Choose File > Clear All to remove all imported files.

 

Tip: To convert a password-protected PDF, click the password icon next to the file and enter the document's open password.

 

Step 2 Select the Pages to Convert

By default, all pages are converted.

If you only want to convert specific pages:

  1. Select Range.
  2. Enter the page numbers or ranges you want to convert.

For example:

  • 1,3,5 converts pages 1, 3, and 5.
  • 1-5 converts pages 1 through 5.
  • 1-3,8,10-12 converts multiple page ranges.

Step 3 Choose an Output Format

Click the Output Format menu and select the format you want.

Depending on the source file and your Mac, available formats may include:

  • Word
  • Excel
  • PowerPoint
  • Pages
  • Keynote
  • Numbers
  • TXT
  • RTF
  • CSV
  • HTML
  • PDF
  • Image formats

Adjust Conversion Settings

For supported formats, click button next to the output format to adjust advanced conversion options.

Layout Settings

Choose whether to prioritize:

  • Text Recognition — prioritizes accurate text extraction and editing.

  • Layout — prioritizes preserving the original page layout and visual appearance.

Choose the option that best matches your intended use of the converted document.

OCR Settings

If the source PDF contains scanned or image-based pages, enable OCR and select the appropriate recognition language.

If the OCR module has not been installed, Cisdem PDF Converter OCR will prompt you to download it.

 

Step 4: Convert the PDF

  1. Select an output folder.

  2. Click to start the conversion.

When the conversion is complete, click button or to locate the converted file. 

 

Convert Scanned PDFs and Images with OCR

A scanned PDF or image-based PDF contains pages as images rather than editable text. OCR (Optical Character Recognition) recognizes the text in these images and converts it into searchable, copyable, and editable content.

Cisdem PDF Converter OCR supports OCR for scanned PDFs and images and recognizes multiple languages.

You can use OCR to:

  • Make scanned PDFs searchable.
  • Copy text from scanned documents.
  • Convert scanned PDFs into editable Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and other formats.
  • Create searchable PDF archives.
  • Process multiple scanned files in batches.

Step 1 Add Scanned PDFs or Images

Open the Converter tab and add your scanned PDF or image files.

You can:

  1. Drag and drop files into the main window.
  2. Click  and select your files.
  3. Choose File > Add Files... from the menu bar.

Cisdem PDF Converter OCR automatically detects image-based content and prompts you to install the OCR module if necessary.

Step 2 Install the OCR Module

When you import a scanned PDF or image for the first time, Cisdem PDF Converter OCR may prompt you to download the OCR module.

Click OK and follow the on-screen instructions.

Important: Make sure Cisdem PDF Converter OCR is installed in the Applications folder before downloading the OCR module. Otherwise, the OCR module may not install correctly.

Step 3 Select the Pages to Recognize

If you only want to OCR specific pages:

  1. Select Range.
  2. Enter the page numbers or page ranges you want to process.

If you want to process the entire document, leave the range unchanged.

Step 4 Choose an Output Format and Select the OCR Language

Depending on your needs, you can convert a scanned PDF or image into:

  • Searchable PDF
  • Word
  • Excel
  • PowerPoint
  • Pages
  • Keynote
  • Numbers
  • TXT
  • RTF
  • HTML
  • Other supported formats

For a searchable PDF, select OCR PDF as the output format.

Select OCR PDF or another supported output format.

Then click button and select Auto Detect or target language(s) used in the document.

Step 5 Start OCR

  1. Select the output folder.
  2. Click

When the conversion is complete, click button or to locate the converted file. 

Note: OCR results depend on factors such as image quality, font style, page layout, background, and document complexity. For the best results, use clear, high-resolution scans with good contrast.

 

Create PDF from Other File Formats

Step 1 Open the Creator Tab

Click the Creator tab at the top of the window.

Add the files you want to convert to PDF.

You can:

  1. Drag and drop files into the main window.
  2. Click and select the files.
  3. Choose File > Add Files... from the menu bar.

 

Remove Files

To remove a file, select it and click .

To remove all imported files, choose File > Clear All.

 

Step 2 Create the PDF

  1. Choose a save location.

  2. Click to start creating the PDF.

When the conversion is complete, click button or to locate the converted file. 

 

Merge Multiple Files into One PDF

Cisdem PDF Converter OCR can combine multiple files into a single PDF document.

This is useful when you need to combine reports, scanned documents, images, presentations, or other supported files into one PDF.

Step 1 Add Files

Open the Creator tab and add the files you want to merge.

You can drag and drop files into the main window, click  or FileAdd Files...

 

Step 2 Arrange the File Order

Drag and drop the files to arrange them in the order you want them to appear in the final PDF.

 

Step 3 Enable Merge

 

Turn on the Merge option. 

This combines all imported files into a single PDF instead of creating separate PDF files.

Step 3 Create the Merged PDF

Choose a save location and click

Once the process is complete, click Show in Finder button to open the output location.

Update Cisdem PDF Converter OCR

We recommend keeping Cisdem PDF Converter OCR up to date to get the latest improvements, compatibility updates, and bug fixes.

Cisdem PDF Converter OCR automatically checks for updates when you launch the application.

You can also check for updates manually:

  1. Open Cisdem PDF Converter OCR.

  2. Choose Cisdem PDF Converter OCR > Check for Updates... from the menu bar.

  3. Follow the on-screen instructions to install the latest version.
